FBCD Something Cinderella-ish Track 1 - Strange Casting

*door opens*

Tohru: Shigure-san Shigure-sa~n!!

*shoji opens*

Tohru: Shigure-san!

Shigure: Yes yes. Welcome home Tohru-kun

Tohru: I'm home. Shigure-san! Big news!

Shigure: Hm? What is?

Tohru: It's great. It's wonderful!! Kyo-kun's... Kyo-kun's a Prince!

And so begins the Fruits Basket CD Drama - Something Cinderella-ish. Yuki following Tohru into the house tells her that putting things that way doesn't make sense, but Tohru continues, telling Shigure that Yuki's a fairy godmother! Bemused, Shigure can only repeat that, and comment that he never realised that Yuki was a fairy godmother... Mildly annoyed, Yuki tells Shigure that of course he wasn't a fairy godmother and that Tohru was in fact talking about a play.

Yuki: Our class is doing a play for the school festival. The cast for it was decided today.

Shigure: Uaaaahhh!

Tohru: Eh? Is something wrong?

Shigure: Wow! I just imagined Kyo wearing white tights...

Kyo: Don't imagine it!

Tohru: Ah! Kyo-kun!

Kyo: Tohru

Tohru: Yes!

Kyo: Why'd you tell Shigure about the play. If this guy finds out he'll have fun bugging, bugging, bugging, bugging...

Shigure: Welcome home Kyo-kun will you be wearing tights?

Kyo: This is the sort of thing he'll say. He's that kind of guy.

Tohru: Eh? But...

Yuki: It's not like you can keep it hidden. Give it up Prince.

Kyo yells as Yuki to shut up while Shigure tells the others that rather than stand around, to come in and sit down and tell him more about it. He then grabs hold of Kyo's foot before he can leave and tells him to also come in. Kyo can only grate at Shigure to let go of his foot and that he has no intention of taking part of such an idiotic conversation. As Kyo struggles to get free, Shigure suggests having tea to Tohru as Micchan had dropped off some really nice-looking sweets.

*****

After tea's served, Shigure asks for more information about the play. Tohru explains that they'll be doing Cinderella and that the class next door is doing Mito Koumon. And Yuki explains that this was the result after all the students were asked what they wanted to do. Shigure, seeing that Kyo's so set against being the prince asks why he didn't refuse the role but Kyo says he did refuse but that the people in his class wouldn't listen. Yuki further explains that the vote by the class for Kyo to be the prince had been unanimous and that it was pretty pathetic of Kyo to continue resisting as he was.

When asked whether Yuki hadn't been a possible candidate, Tohru and Yuki explain that he was but because he also had Student Council work, he was too busy and therefore declined. Tohru however tells Kyo that it was wonderful that he'd been chosen to be the prince. Afterall, it's a main role and co-lead. And Shishou-san would be so happy...

Kyo: Don't tell him; absolutely don't tell him.

Tohru: Eh? But...

Kyo: Do not tell him. Who wants to be seen like that. Especially by Shishou.

Tohru: But he'd be so happy...

Shigure comments that Kyo's so self-conscious and that he should give the role a try. Afterall, life's all about experiencing things.

Shigure: Eh? By the way, who's Cinderella? Tohru-kun?

Tohru: Eh? As if that could be possible! Not at all! Hana-chan's Cinderella.

Shigure: Eh? Seriously?

Yuki: Seriously

Shigure: I see. Saki-chan's Cinderella; Kyo-kun's the Prince... Eheheh.

Kyo: I told you not to imagine it!

Shigure: Hang in there Kyo-kun!

Yuki: Hang in there Prince.

Tohru: Let's do our best Kyo-kun!

Shigure then asks who Tohru would be and Yuki explains that she had the role of the evil step-sister. Shigure's surprised but after a moment exclaims how Tohru probably wouldn't be able to portray that role. Kyo and Yuki can only agree with him but Tohru exclaims that she'll do her best to show a truly nasty step-sister. Shigure explains to Tohru that portraying such a character successfully would take a certain disposition. Kyo and Yuki both agree with his opinion and look at him; and Shigure can only wonder mildly why they were staring at him when he said so.

Unfazed, Tohru determines to do her best at portraying her role and Shigure tells Kyo that he should also do his best; with the Prince's white tights. Kyo yells at Shigure to forget the tights already when Tohru tells him that it's really wonderful that so many people voted for him to be the Prince. That this was proof of how well-liked he was by his classmates. Shigure and Yuki watch on the side wondering if Kyo will yield to Tohru's cluelessly underhanded comment. Kyo, unable to stand up to Tohru quickly gives in and agrees to portray the Prince but warns her under no circumstances is she to laugh. He also tells Shigure that he's not to come see the play even if it kills him.

With the casting settled, Shigure wonders who he can ask to video the play...
